A green, or earth-friendly, funeral and burial involves, most importantly, the proper preparation of the body.  This must be done without the use of any preservatives, especially embalming fluids.  A biodegradable casket made from natural materials, like wood or wicker, will be used, and finally, the body will be buried in a cemetery that allows either no vault or a vault without a bottom.  If all is done in this manner, the process of natural deterioration will begin immediately.  With trees, shrubs and flowers planted nearby, the body, with time, becomes part of the green environment.
