She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Kobler; her mother, June Kobler; her brother, Paul Kobler; and nephew, Robert Kobler. She is survived by her husband, Kevin Brolsma; her siblings, Robert (Sigrid) Kobler and Carole (Ralph) Miserendino; sister-in-law, Misette Kobler; brothers-in-law, Gary (Serena) Brolsma and Greg (Pam) Brolsma; her three sons, Jake (Stacey), Chris (Annette), and Kevin (Jessie); her nine grandchildren, Madison, Benjamin, Luke, Mason, Katherine, Charlotte, Parker, Lillian, and Connor; and nieces and nephews, Jon (Jennifer) Kobler, Sarah (Chris) Weise, Joanna (Josh) Hardwick, Ryan Kobler, Deveny (Lucas Braun) Brolsma, Riley (Kristin) Brolsma, Chelsea Brolsma, Emily (Kyle) Peters, and Stephanie (Matt) Klutz.

Ellyn Lorraine Kobler was born on April 8th, 1954, to loving parents Robert Kobler and June (Samuelson) Kobler in Elmhurst, IL. Ellyn was baptized at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Villa Park, IL on May 30th, 1954. Ellyn loved being active in the church, she was confirmed at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Villa Park, IL on May 25th, 1969.

Ellyn went to Willowbrook High School, where she graduated in the year of 1972. She then went to Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota and graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology. There she met Kevin Wayne Brolsma, her husband of 47 amazing years. Ellyn married Kevin on August 7th, 1976. She then brought Jacob Andrew into the world on September 19th, 1980, Christopher Wayne on October 13th, 1982, and Kevin Robert on May 10th, 1985. The family moved to many states during their early years: from Illinois, to Minnesota, Georgia, and back to Illinois where they lived for decades. In 2021, Ellyn and Kevin moved to Indiana, first to Indianapolis then to McCordsville.

The mother of three also graduated from Georgia State University in 1995 with her Master's Degree in Molecular Genetics. She held and excelled at many roles in life, a wonderful, patient mother and grandmother; a medical technician, an entrepreneur at Blue Elk Productions and later co-owner of Alpha Precision, Inc (with her husband, Kevin).

She loved to watch her children and grandchildren play sports. She made some spectacular cookies, although for her, it wasn’t about the end product, but the experiences with the people she loved while she made them.  She was an exceptional party hostess. She loved hosting and serving others in her home and put on a wonderful Holiday Cookie bake, traditional Christmas dinner, Thanksgiving feast, and Easter celebration. Hosting and time with her family were the things that Ellyn lived for.

Over the years, she made many sacrifices for others and was always an optimist. She was always the one to make selfless sacrifices for her children and grandchildren, even if doing so was painful. She always lit up a room as soon as she walked in, and her smile could make miracles happen. She lived for others. We would kindly ask that you keep her in your hearts, even in her death, and celebrate her life with us.
