Gerhard "Jerry" Martens

Gerhard "Jerry" Martens, age 81, a proud Hoosier and American born in Bremen, Germany and resided in Westfield, Indiana passed away peacefully on Monday, July 4th.

Having worked in Germany as an accomplished engineer, Gerhard moved to the United States with his family to work for Firestone, from which he retired. After retirement, he further chased his American dream by founding Metric Seals Inc., located in Westfield, Indiana.

Gerhard enjoyed hunting and fishing around the world, and was active in the German community as well as a member in the Liederkranz in Indianapolis.

Gerhard was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who is survived by his son, Thomas (Jenefer) Martens; daughter, Martina (Darrin) Goodwin; grandsons, Alek (Darby) Martens, Brendan Martens, and Nicholas Goodwin; and granddaughter, Isabella Goodwin.
