Mary Marguerite Purdue passed away Sunday, January 15, at age 85.
She was born in Evansville, Indiana on September 12, 1937 to Mr. and Mrs. Earl C. Purdue, both of whom are deceased. Mary spent most of her life in Evansville. After graduating from Bosse High School in 1955, Mary went to work for Bausch & Lomb Optical Company. Shortly thereafter, she was employed by the University of Evansville, remaining for 35 years as the financial aid consultant. Few students went through the University without meeting and dealing with Mary.
In December of 2005, after retiring from UE, she and her sister, Barbara, moved to Noblesville, Indiana to be closer to family. Barbara passed in February 2010, and her sister-in-law, Beverly (Gene’s wife) passed in March of 2000.
Mary is survived by her brothers, Gene Purdue of Noblesville and Herschel (Marian) of South Carolina; two nephews, Larry and Chris (CP) of Fishers and Indianapolis respectively; and an enormous group of friends who will miss her terribly.
Inurnment, along with her sister Barbara, will be in Evansville at Park Lawn Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hamilton County Humane Society or the Evansville First Seventh-day Adventist Church in Evansville .
