Robert Douglas Henshaw passed on in the early morning light of June 4, 2022 at home after a diagnosis of aggressive glioblastoma in September 2020. If the measure of a man is determined by the Love he holds for others and the friendships nurtured through the years, then Rob Henshaw was triumphantly successful.
Born in Indianapolis, IN on May 24, 1954 to Lucia Funk Corcoran and Gene C. Henshaw (deceased), Rob was the eldest of four children, who took seriously his job of being big brother to his siblings. He was a 1972 graduate from North Central High School and completed studies at Indiana University in 1976.
Rob never met a stranger, which prepared him well for a lengthy career in sales. Rob started his career in the paper industry, was Senior Vice President of Pizza King, and Vice President of EnviroForensics.
He is survived by his son, Joseph D. Henshaw of Santa Monica, California; his partner, Beth Porter; his mother, Lucia Corcoran; his siblings, Susan Henshaw Dugan of Decatur, GA (Lawrence), Elizabeth Leigh Dinelli of Grand Junction, CO (Richard), and Stephen Richard Henshaw of Indianapolis, IN (Dawn); along with numerous nieces and nephews and Beth’s son.
Rob loved being with people, taking walks, listening to music, golfing with life-long friends, boating, fishing, and spending time on the beaches of Sarasota County, Florida. He recently celebrated his 68th birthday with gratitude, surrounded by family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at North Meridian United Methodist Church, 3808 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208 at 1 PM. A time of remembrance and Celebration of Life will follow the service at the church from 1:45 to 5:00pm. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to a charity of the donor's choosing.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Beth Porter and Betsy Dinelli for their compassionate love and devotion during Rob’s hospice care.
