Airdrie Elizabeth Occolowitz
Airdrie Macnab, the only child of William and Emily Macnab, was born in Adelaide, Australia, in 1928 and died December 5, 2017.
Several years later the family moved to Melbourne, Australia, where they obtained a lease to a gas station. During WW2 while her father was engaged in war work, Airdrie helped with home duties and at the gas station. After graduating from high school,
She worked in accounting jobs during the day, attended night school, passed her accountancy exams and became an associate member of the Australian Society of Accountants. With this qualification, she obtained the position of accountant for Thomas Optical Company.
In 1962 she married John Occolowitz, her husband-to-be for the next 55 years. In 1963 she became a full-time homemaker and moved to Indianapolis in 1968 when John joined Eli Lilly and Company.
She participated in the Campfire Girls, the Cub Scouts, and later became a part-time accountant for two fraternal organizations.
She is survived by her daughter, Stacey Roesch and husband Matt Roesch; son, Peter Occolowitz and husband Christopher Dlutowski; and granddaughter Aurelia Dlutowski-Occolowitz .
Calling will be from noon to 1 p.m. December 20, 2017 at Crown Hill Gothic Chapel, Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana.
