Alan E. Levinsohn, age 94, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2024, with his beloved wife of 66 years, Ann, by his side. Alan was born on May 1, 1930, in Saginaw, Michigan, to his parents Alexander Samuel Levinsohn and Rose Lipman Levinsohn. Alan nurtured a deep passion for automobiles, cycling, dogs, and above all, his family.
He graduated from the University of Michigan, where he was a member of Phi Sigma Delta. It was during a return visit to the University of Michigan that he met Ann Lurie. They married on September 22, 1957, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. After settling in Indianapolis, Alan embarked on a successful career journey. He began as a sales executive at Capital Paper Company and later ventured into entrepreneurship as the owner and operator of Mickey’s Auto Parts and several car washes.
Alan also pursued his avid interest in investing, demonstrating his business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit. Alan and Ann enjoyed many years together on Sanibel Island, where Alan was active in the Kiwanis club, and a proud member of the Indianapolis Gyro Club. His involvement in these organizations reflected his generous spirit and commitment to community service. Alan and Ann are also longtime members of Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation.
Alan is survived by his loving wife, Ann; their three children and their spouses, Jim Levinsohn (Kirsten), John Levinsohn (April), and Jane Jex (Jeff); six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A calling will take place on Wednesday, July 24, from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Funeral Home, located at 11411 North Michigan Road, Zionsville, IN., followed by a private family service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Hamilton County Humane Society, Alzheimer's Association, or a charity of your choice, honoring Alan's memory and his love for animals and community support.
