Alexander John Lucich
9/6/23 to 1/1/16
Speedway - Alexander J. Lucich died Friday the 1st of January.
Born in 1923 in Gary, IN, Alex graduated from Emerson High School in 1941. He worked for nearly 42 years as a machinist at U.S. Steel in Gary, IN and retired in 1984.
Alex enjoyed marching band music and played snare drum in the U.S. Steel band. He was also an accomplished handyman and a gadget/toymaker. His favorite saying was, "I can build that out of wood," and he often did - from a human-sized, functional robot, to a two-seat toy plane with a functional propeller and wing flaps that was suspended from the basement ceiling, to a wide array of wooden animals.
He is survived by his daughter Linda (George) Miller of Hebron, his son John (Theresa Austgen) of Carmel, and grandchildren Anastasia, Elizabeth, Katherine and Nicholas. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Susanna, in 2013 and his son Ronald (Sharon, nee Ratajczak) in 2014.
