Allen Isadore Hazen, a beloved figure in the Indianapolis community, passed away on November 14, 2024 at the age of 88. Born on August 14, 1936, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Allen grew up in a family that laid the foundation for his dedicated work ethic and spirit of service.
A proud graduate of Manuel High School, he furthered his education by attending college, where he cultivated a thirst for knowledge that would serve him well throughout his life. Following his academic pursuits, Allen honorably served in the United States Army, embodying the values of dedication and duty.
Allen's entrepreneurial spirit led him to own several gas stations in Indianapolis, where he became known not just for his business success but also for his commitment to his customers and the community. His steadfast reputation as a business owner will be remembered fondly by many who frequented his stations.
In addition to his professional life, Allen had a zest for living. He enjoyed dancing, always looking for a chance to share in joyous festivities. His dedication to fitness was evident in his daily routines, as he sought to maintain an active lifestyle. A dog lover at heart, his affection for these companions brought him much happiness throughout his years.
Allen is survived by his loving family, including his daughter, Brandi (Eric) Miller; stepdaughters, Terry (Bob) Hutt and Tammy LeRoy; and his cherished grandchildren, Makenzie and Tanner Miller. He is also survived by his nieces, Marla, and Nicole, along with his nephews, Kelly and David, and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert I. Hazen and Betty Gerbofsky Hazen, who provided him with a nurturing and love-filled upbringing as well as siblings Morty Hazen and Terry Ward.
A graveside service will be held on November 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM, in the Etz Chaim Cemetery located at 2200 South West Street, Indianapolis, IN 46225, where family and friends will gather to reflect on a life well-lived, filled with love, community, and the richness of family ties.
