Amy Brown Burke, beloved sister, aunt, and friend to many, passed away on August 6, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital where she worked for the past 37 years.
A graduate of Charles F. Brush High School in South Euclid-Lyndhurst, Ohio, Class of 1975, Amy went on to be an Art major at Ohio University. In 1978, Amy moved to Indianapolis and began working at The Great Frame Up. She joined Ascension-St. Vincent’s Hospital soon after, enjoying a 37-year career mostly in the NICU as a Unit Secretary. Amy had high standards and was honored to devote her life to working hard alongside so many caring colleagues. She continued working part-time at the Great Frame Up and had a gift for using her artful eye to help customers choose the perfect frame. Her choices were exquisite. Many friends and family have their artwork displayed prominently. This will remain her legacy.
Amy was happiest spending quality time with her family and adored her nieces and nephews, always sending gifts and calling to check in on them. Most of all Thanksgiving was the highlight of her year; she would plan months in advance, send new recipe ideas and looked forward to everyone gathering around the table. She had always wanted to travel and hoped to visit Maine after retirement. She enjoyed going out with her many co-workers and friends, who were always up for a good time. Amy loved living in Broad Ripple and knew how to recommend the best places to visit. Her home was her pride and joy. She always had cozy candles burning, seasonal decor, and her beloved homewares on display. She loved tuning into home improvement shows on HGTV as she had a keen eye for shopping, antiquing and loved landscaping her own yard. Her two dogs, Tish and Ava, meant the world to her and were her loyal companions.
She is survived by her siblings, Connie Kraus, Ken (Mary Lynn) Brown and Lindsey (Alan) Cohen and extended family. Amy was proceded in death by her parents, Burton and Jane Brown and her brother-in-law, Elden Kraus.
Graveside funeral services will be on Monday, August 7, 2023, at IHC North Cemetery 1300 E. 161st Street, Westfield, Indiana at 3:30 PM. She will rest peacefully with her two beloved dogs, Tish and Ava. REQUEST: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Humane Society of Indianapolis.
