Ann C. Curtiss, age 88, passed away on May 10, 2018.
She was born in Springfield, Tennessee, to John Cecil and Sally Lou "Sara" Chilton. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Curtiss, her son James "Jim" Curtiss, her brother Robert Chilton, and her parents.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Amy Curtiss Davidoff, and granddaughter Sarah Ellen Davidoff of Indianapolis; grandson Robert Davidoff and his wife Miranda Gavrin of Pittsburgh; and nephews Donald and Larry Chilton in Texas.
Ann graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield, Tennessee. She worked as a calculator for the National Life Insurance Company in Nashville until the beginning of her 62-year marriage to Bill Curtiss. She and Bill came to Circleville in 1954 when he was among the first engineers assigned to open DuPont's Mylar plant in Circleville.
Ann's home, family, and religious community were the most important things in her life. She served as a volunteer in Circleville school activities, the Girl Scouts, and on several committees for the Community United Methodist Church. She was a past president of the Monday Club, a member of the Pickaway County Historical & Genealogical Society and belonged to three book clubs. After Bill's retirement from DuPont, Ann and Bill attended many Elderhostels and spent a lot of time enjoying their grandchildren. Ann had a life-long love of music, which included playing the piano, subscriptions to the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and the Mershon Series at OSU, and attending local concerts in Ashville and at Ohio Christian University.
Ann had an active interest in current events and national and international news. She maintained a positive outlook no matter what life served her and had great compassion for those who had been overwhelmed by life's challenges. Ann's warmth, humor, faith, and generosity will be missed by all who knew her and especially by her family, who loved her so dearly.
Ann's memorial service will be held at Community United Methodist Church at 2 pm on Saturday, June 9, 2018. Calling hours at the church will begin at 1 pm, prior to the service. Interment will be in the family cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Operating Fund or the Compassion Fund at Community United Methodist Church, 120 N. Pickaway Street, Circleville, OH 43113.
