Ann (Kahn) Glasser

With a song on her lips, love in her heart, and music in her soul, Ann Kahn Glasser passed away peacefully on April 23, 2021 in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Ann was born in Indianapolis on December 8, 1924.  She graduated from Shortridge High School and Northwestern University as a very accomplished pianist with a degree in Music.

Ann married Richard L. Glasser in 1947; and they remained happily married in Indianapolis until her husband’s death in 2009.  Ann was a longtime member of the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation and its Sisterhood.  She was an active member of many organizations including Hadassah, the National Council of Jewish Women, the Indianapolis Garden Club, the Indiana Symphony Orchestra Board, and the Clowes Hall Women’s Committee – North Group.  Ann was often called upon to write, direct, and play the music for various programs and “skits” for these organizations.

Ann loved to travel with her husband and together they took many worldwide trips.  Ann played both golf and tennis as a member of Broadmoor Country Club.  Later in life, she enjoyed mahjong, bridge, duplicate bridge, and crossword puzzles.  Ann was a woman who loved beautiful things such as playing the piano while singing along, enjoying the colors of nature, and collecting art deco glass.

Most of all, she loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family.  Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Glasser; parents, Ralph and Belle (nee Cohen) Kahn; daughter, Jane Glasser Yolles; grandson, Jeffrey Seth Yolles; two brothers, Dr. Howard L. Kahn and Dr. Alexander J. Kahn; and her beloved brothers-in-law/ sisters-in-law, Ralph and Marjorie Glasser Ledley and Raymond and Louise Glasser Grimes.

Ann is survived by her son, Robert (Rachael) Glasser; daughter, Nancy (Dr. Richard) Weiss; son-in-law, Dr. Elliott Yolles; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Zwirn Yolles, Brian (Garen) Yolles, Matthew Glasser, Dr. Jenny Glasser (Dr. R. Brant) Munden, Ross (Jennalyn) Glasser, Melissa Weiss, and Louis Weiss; five great-grandchildren; and two beloved sisters-in-law, Leah Dee “Deedle” Kahn and Margaret Hansen Kahn.

The family would like to personally thank Karen Asher and her husband, Dan, for their dedicated assistance, treatment, understanding, and loving care of Ann.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation or the charity of the donors’ choice.
