Arkadiy Korsunskiy, 92, of Indianapolis passed on October 14, 2022. He was born on October 5, 1930 in St. Petersburg, Russia to Margarita and Lev Korsunskiy. He spent his childhood moving frequently while his father was an officer in the army and eventually, the military brought them to a small town in Siberia for the remainder of his childhood, where he discovered his love for nature and animals.
As a young adult, he found himself back in St. Petersburg working as an electronic technician in aviation and would do so for the remainder of his time in the Soviet Union. There he also met his wife, Inna. Though he was at first reluctant to commit to being a family man, a fact that his wife reminded him of daily, they were happily married for 48 years until she passed in 2016. They welcomed their daughter, Katya, in 1970 who was the greatest joy in his life. He later immigrated to the United States in 1994 with his wife, daughter and granddaughter.
He will be remembered for his love for nature, horses and music. He could often be found playing the accordion or singing, or rewatching old movies from his youth. Although a man of few words in social situations, he loved to tell stories to his family about his childhood and was an integral part of raising his grandchildren and passing on his stories to them.
Arkadiy is survived by his daughter, Katya (Mikhail) Klauz; two granddaughters, Stacy (Ilya) Rekhter and Anna Klauz; and a great-granddaughter, Ellie. He is also survived by a younger sister, Lydia Mogilevskaya, who resides in Germany. He was preceded in death by his wife, Inna.
Funeral services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, a tree can be planted in his memory at Trees for Israel .
