Aubrey Fulcher Lowe
Age 73, died January 7, 2014, after a period of extended illness. He was born July 7, 1940 in Suffolk, Virginia, to the late Juber and Yvonne (Fulcher) Lowe Myrick. Aubrey graduated from East Suffolk High School in 1956. He went on to graduate from North Carolina Central University and its School of Law in 1963. Aubrey worked for the Federal Housing Authority in Washington, DC, as a staff attorney. In the right place at a crucial time, he was able to attend the March on Washington in August of 1963. Aubrey moved his young family to Indianapolis in 1967, where he worked for over twenty years at Eli Lilly as a financial analyst, and later served as Comptroller for Citizens' Health Center.
Aubrey was a life-long Episcopalian, and he was deeply involved in the life of his church. He served two leadership terms on the Vestry at St. Paul's, beginning a legacy both his sons have continued. In addition to his work and contributions to his church, Aubrey spent his time enjoying music, sports, a good biography, and time with his family. Their annual visits to the east coast were always a source of fun, adventure and great stories.
After serving as chapter president while in his undergrad years at NCC, Aubrey maintained his involvement as a lifetime member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity. He often took his sons out 'pop calling' on Sunday afternoons - popping in to visit fraternity brothers and other friends. Typically introspective, he loved a good conversation and could be quite the talker. Aubrey's caring and compassionate nature will be remembered by those he touched in all circles of life.
Aubrey is survived by his wife of over fifty years, the former Anne L. Pulley; two sons, Gary A. Lowe, and Brandon P. Lowe (Tracie); three grandsons; Charles Lowe, Joshua Hughes and Jacob Hughes; and one granddaughter, Victoria Dannae Lowe. Tori and the boys gave Grandpa lots to smile about.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 6050 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis. Funeral services will be held at the church on Saturday, January 25, at 11am, with interment to follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to "St. Paul's Music", in care of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
