B. Mary Klagiss,
78, of Indianapolis, passed away July 19, 2019. She was born in Riga, Latvia to Aleksandr and Irma Ontuzans on September 5, 1940. Mary, her parents, and her two sisters were forced to flee Latvia in 1945. They spent time in refugee camps in Germany before coming to the United States in 1950.
Mary graduated from Arsenal Tech High School of Indianapolis and then earned her RN degree from Indiana University AD Nursing program in 1983. Immediately following graduation, she went to work at Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis and continued there in the ICU until retirement age. She has many friends from the hospital who loved her and will miss her dearly.
Mary had a quick wit, enjoyed animals (especially dogs) and was well read. She enjoyed politics and lively political discussions.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Eugenia Ziedonis. She is survived by her sister, Zenta Ziedonis; nephews and nieces, Arvids (Rosemarie) Ziedonis, Carmina (Roger) Hunter, Vali (Jeanine) Ziedonis, Igor (Nancy) Ziedonis; Dorian Ziedonis; John Ziedonis; and Jennifer (JR) Hinojosa; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews who all loved her very much.
A gathering to honor her will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Augustine, 2345 W. 86th in Indianapolis .
