Barbara Ann Decker Davis, 89, of Carmel, passed away December 3, 2022. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 17, 1933 to the late Richard and Helen Decker. At long last, Barb has finally been released from the ravages that dementia had so unkindly bestowed upon her for so very long. She worked for many years in the title insurance industry.
Known to so many as “The Towel Lady”, Barb was also involved with art and craft shows for well over 40 years. Barb never knew a stranger - she was blessed with the “gift of gab” and how she loved to do so! From her childhood in Detroit, Michigan, to the summers and beaches of Saugatuck, to a life long-lived in Carmel, Indiana, she was tenacious, confident and fiercely committed to her family and friends. She will be missed everlastingly, “brightly beams our Father’s mercy from his lighthouse evermore.”
Barbara is survived by her brother, William (Lynette) Decker of Summerfield, Florida; her two sons, Richard (Susie) of Fishers, Indiana, and their six children - Charlynn, Carissa, Dustin, Carmen, Andres and Cathleen; and Jeffrey (Denise) of Charlotte, Michigan, and their two children - Mandy and Brian; and daughter, Dana (Kevin) of Zionsville, Indiana, and their two children - Anna and Logan; her late daughter Diane’s children, Tessa and Cameron; and 21 very loved great-grandchildren to boot!
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Davis; and her adored daughter, Diane Elizabeth Churchill.
A gathering will be held February 10, 2023 at the Aspasia Coffee and Bake Shop, Zionsville, Indiana from 2 - 5 p.m. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Dementia Society of America , The Alzheimer’s Association or to Eaton County Palliative Care, of Charlotte, Michigan , who so gracefully and lovingly provided care for her daughter, Diane, for which she was everlastingly grateful.
