Barbara Howald-Gelpke

Barbara Howald-Gelpke passed away peacefully on October 3, 2017 surrounded by her family.

She was born Barbara Ann Bourque on September 18, 1925 in Milwaukee, WI, and spent her childhood years in Cincinnati, OH.

She met her husband Rob�ert Howald Sr. while attend�ing Miami University in Ox�ford, OH. They eventually landed in Toledo, where Bob established his architectur�al firm and they raised two sons. After 53 years of happy marriage, Bob passed away in 2002.

She was lucky to find love again at 91 years of age when she reconnected with a long�time family friend, Roy Gelpke, of Carmel, IN. They were married on March 18, 2017.

Barb is survived by her hus�band, Roy Gelpke; her two loving sons, Robert Howald Jr., Jeff (Connie) Howald and granddaughters, Lau�ren and Samantha.

Barbara spent the last six months of her life enjoying time spent with her new ex�tended family and attending College Park Church. She also cherished her mem�bership and activities with P.E.O. Chapter and Toledo Delta Gamma Alumnae Chapter.

She lived a life full of beau�ty, art, tennis, bridge, and cherished time with many dear friends and family. She enjoyed many sunsets and sunrises over Clear Lake and an evening "old fash�ioned."

We will miss your grace, your beautiful white hair, your fabulous sense of style and your red eyeglasses. Rest In Peace Babs.
