Barbara Ruth Tackett

Barbara Ruth Stivers Tackett,
77 of Lexington, Kentucky passed away April 22, 2014. She was born in Frankfort, Kentucky on November 8, 1936 to Louis and Ruth Goin Stivers. Barbara was a graduate of Frankfort High School and received her Bachelor's degree from Transylvania University and her Master's Degree from the University of Kentucky. She taught for several years in Fayette County and Rowan County Schools. Barbara was a member of Chi Omega Sorority, and a lifelong member of Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Eugene Tackett; son, Matthew Harold Tackett; and his children, Madison, Morgan, Seth and their mother, Paula; son, John Louis Tackett; and his wife, Brenda and their children, Justin and J. William Tackett; and her sister, Mary Stivers Jamerson. Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Naomi Stivers Kitchen.
The family will hold a Receiving of Friends at Twin Pines Christian Church on May 5th from 2 " 4 PM, with a Memorial service to begin at 4 PM. Interment will be May 6th in Owen County at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Twin Pines Christian Church Week of Compassion.
