Barbara "Suzy" Sue (Franklin) Wheat

Barbara “Suzy” Sue Wheat, 77, of Indianapolis, passed away June 13, 2023.  She was born to the late William and Lois Franklin (nee Henry) on March 13, 1946, in Chicago, IL. She attended Shortridge High School in Indianapolis and earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from Indiana University.  She spent her career caring for others as a nurse at Riley Children’s Hospital and Westview Hospital.

Suzy loved going on long bike rides with her husband, swimming in her pool, shopping with her girls, and soccer momming her boys.  Suzy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, close friend of many, and lover of her dogs (Wormy, Beowolf, Duffy, Shadow, Mack, Seager, Jake, Charlie, and Barlow). Though she loved to travel and saw much of the world, her favorite place was home, sharing time and love with her family.

Suzy is survived by her devoted husband, Lawrence Joseph Wheat; daughters, Heather (Burton) Largura and Abigale Wheat-Lusiak; son, Emerson (Shamaine Cardoza) Wheat; daughter-in-law, Gina Bozzelli-Wheat; five grandchildren, MiraBella & Joseph Largura, Liliana & Alexandra Wheat, and one on the way (Emerson and Shamaine ); three sisters, Candance Ann Zickler, Mary Virginia Stefan, and Patricia Helen Benrubi; her longtime friend and caregiver, Michelle Sheriff; and the inconsolable Barlow.  Suzy was preceded in death by her son, Blair Wheat; and son-in-law, Rick Lusiak.

Suzy captured our hearts and taught us all what unconditional love really means.  She will be missed always.
