Beverly Joan (All) Dyken was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, on Aug. 30, 1932, to Earl and Doris (Stitzel) All. She graduated from Indiana State University Laboratory School in 1949 as salutatorian. She attended Indiana University, where she met Mark L. Dyken, whom she married in 1951.
She devoted her life to her husband, children, volunteer work, and her church, St. Francis-in-the-Fields, where she was a member and sang in the choir since 1965. Her compassion for others led her to serve as a volunteer at a facility for people with disabilities, known today as New Hope of Indiana. She was beloved by many of the individuals who worked there and were served there. In 2003, New Hope created The Beverly Dyken Outstanding Service Award, presented each year to a volunteer contributing the highest level of service.
She is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years; her brother, Robert All; and her sister, Mary Ring. She is survived by her six children, Betsy Sheldon, Mark Eric Dyken (Debbie), Julie Dyken (Ron), Amy Dyken (Bert), Andrew Dyken (Marrianne), and Greg Dyken (Tina). She also leaves behind a sister, Sharon Beeson; and many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private service for the family will be held. Memorial donations may be made to New Hope of Indiana .
