We deeply regret to announce that Beverly Tys-Berson passed away peacefully in the company of her family on November 1 at Marquette Manor in Indianapolis. Beverly is survived by her sons, Adam (Beth) Waldo of Hinsdale, Illinois; Matt (Cathleen) Waldo of Delware, Ohio; her grandchildren, Ann, Evan, John, Asher, and Andrew; and her sister, Lorraine Dorfman of Iowa City, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Berson.
Beverly will be remembered for her bubbly and outgoing personality, ability to make people laugh, and her caring for others. She was a champion of cultural and religious diversity, and offering assistance to the less fortunate. Beverly was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University (Bachelor's) and Virginia Commonwealth University (Master's) in social work. She also received her Licensed Clinical Social Worker professional certification. Her proudest professional achievement was co-founding and serving as the first Executive Director of Youth Haven II, a shelter for troubled teenage girls in Roanoke, Virginia. Beverly was also an active member of and volunteer with Congregation Beth-El Zedeck in Indianapolis.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 4 at 9:00 A.M. in Foundation Hall at Marquette Manor (8140 Township Line Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46240).
