Brent Dixon Clark, 70 of Louisville, KY passed away on August 18th, 2024 following an eight year battle with interstitial lung disease. He was a beloved father, grandfather and friend who never met a stranger and lived every day to the glory of God.
Brent was born on February 5th, 1954 and grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma where he attended Lawton High School and played percussion in the high schools’ marching band. Brent then went on to attend Oklahoma University, participating in the percussion line of OU’s marching band. He then courageously chose to enlist in the United States Army and later discharged as an E-5 Sergeant. He completed basic training in Hawaii where he developed some of his most treasured friendships.
He was a lifelong passionate fan of Oklahoma University sports and a follower of the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band. He rooted for the Sooners every football season, having attended many games which made up many of his most cherished memories. Brent was a talented musician and professional drummer who spent much of his life as an avid lover of music, sitting behind a drum set, jamming with friends and attending concerts of his favorite musicians.
Brent moved to Louisville, KY in 1991 where he would go on to live the next three decades. He volunteered at Southeast Christian Church for many years in the new member ministry, often serving his community and abroad on mission trips and through volunteer work. He was a lover of golf and enjoyed his time on courses around the country. Those who knew Brent will remember his contagious laugh, outgoing personality and abundant ability to talk to anyone about anything. Most of all, he embodied God’s unconditional love in the way he loved his daughters and fathered them throughout their lives.
After a successful career in banking, Brent found peace and happiness in the outdoors, visiting national parks with his daughters, playing outside with his dog Jake and exploring Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico with dear friends. He returned to music as a drummer for his church and maintained his dedicated study of the Bible and overflowing love of Jesus.
Brent is survived by his daughters, Cassandra Karnick (Luke Karnick) of Zionsville, IN, Breanna Marshia (Colin Marshia) of Murray, KY, Olivia Rauter of Louisville, KY, granddaughter Penelope (Cassandra and Luke) and his adored dog, Jake.
He was preceded in death by his parents Nadine Hanks Clark Swindells (April 9, 1926 - October 25, 2021) and Clifton Clark (September 21, 1924 - October 26, 2011).
