Brett Deshan Brevard, 52, of Austin, TX, passed away July 23, 2022. He was born in Odessa, Texas on April 18, 1970 to David and Betty Brevard. Brett will always be remembered for his generosity and willingness to help anyone with anything. He was widely known for his intellect, tender heart, love of animals, and loyalty to his family and friends.
Brett grew up in Houston and graduated from Bellaire High School in 1988. He was #25 on the Cardinal football team and played on both offense and defense as half back and defensive back. He went on to the University of Houston, studying under Dr. Paul Chu – the prominent scientist renowned for breakthroughs in superconductivity research. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Sam Houston State University.
Brett had a myriad of interests. He started his career working closely with Matt and Sheri Prucka, founders of Pruka Engineering – their very first employee. There, he worked on electrophysiology to aid in the study of atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia. He built circuit boards for their very first product that treated patients with heart arrhythmias. He also helped in the development of one of the company's key products – the CardioLab System.
Brett set off on his own and started Brevard Computer Consulting, which specialized in building and supporting computer networks for small companies. His passion for construction, a trade he learned from his father, brought him back to his roots, transitioning to Brevard Construction, a premier contractor for specialty decks, pergolas and fences. In his more recent years, he combined his skills in IT and Construction creating BrevardCo, a sub-contractor providing surveillance and security system installation services across the country. Brett just recently relocated to Austin in 2021, loving life around the lakes.
Brett loved wakeboarding, electric skateboards, and biking. He was a huge aquarist starting at a young age. He never had fewer than five aquariums with hundreds of fish and marine invertebrates. Brett’s aquariums were works of art and a hobby into which he truly put his heart and soul. Even more, Brett enjoyed exploring the outdoors and hiking with his blue heeler and sidekick, Loki.
Brett is survived by his parents Betty and David Brevard; sister, Brandi Brevard and husband, Luke Magilke; his 5 nieces and nephews: Maebry, Sawyer, Meric, Parker, and Christian; his loving fiance, Sandra Lozes and daughter, Juliana; and loyal Blue Heeler (son), Loki. His extended family includes his Aunt Shireen Jackson and Uncle Tom Woodard as well as his cousins; Brad and Laura Brevard, Brent and Elaine Brevard, Jory and Jodi Rector, TJ Woodard, Kevin and Jennifer Pittman, Grant and Lisa Pittman, Andrea Pittman, Beau Brevard, Sydney Brevard, Paige Brevard Spears, Heather Rogers, Russell Rogers, Jaden Rector, Justin Pittman, Tyler Pittman, Preston Pittman, and Lexus Pittman.
