Buelah (Meyer) Scott, of Seymour, passed away peacefully on the morning of August 21 with family and friends by her side. She was 88 years old.
Buelah entered this life on February 11, 1935 in Seymour, Indiana. She was born to the loving parents of William “Earl” and Helen (Anderson) Meyer.
She was a graduate of Cortland High School of which she was a “yell leader”. On September 21, 1955 she married the love of her life Jackie “Jack” Scott. Their union of 54 years was blessed with 3 children, Jacqueline Scott of Seymour, Jill Berlet (Doug) of Naples Florida, and Jeffrey (Marilou) Scott of Carmel. She had 3 grandchildren, Joe (Jessica) Murray of Broadripple, Nicole Scott and Liam Scott of Carmel.
She was a member of Rockford United Methodist Church. Buelah started her working career at the Majestic and Vondee theaters and then worked at Pantasote for over 30 years. She was active in her community with the Lioness club, working for her church at the Oktoberfest, and helping neighbors and others in need. She was a fantastic cook and was always making food for others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her brother, Marvin Meyer and a niece, Teresa Meyer Davis.
Buelah was a wonderful singer and we grew up listening to her own version of singing an ABC song. Our car trips always included singing the “old” songs mom and dad knew. Buelah was proud that she was raised on a farm in Cortland, it was a hard life being in a farming family, but she came to appreciate it later in life. Buelah loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She always had a pet or three that she just couldn’t live without. She was an avid reader and was ever so thankful for the Seymour Library’s bookmobile.
She always said people were good to her. For those we cannot name, thank you for being good to our mother.
A memorial service will be conducted at Rockford Community Church on Saturday September 16, 2023, at 11:00. A luncheon will be graciously provided by the church.
Memorials may be written in Buelah’s name to Rockford Community Church, the Seymour Library Bookmobile, or the Macular Degeneration foundation.
