Cesar Porfirio Rivas Griner

Cesar Porfirio Rivas Griner, a talented chef and beloved member of the Indianapolis community, passed away on April 21, 2025, at the age of 34. Born on September 3, 1990, in Cuernavaca, Mexico, Cesar's journey in life was marked by his passion for culinary arts, which he pursued with fervor at culinary arts school.

Cesar dedicated much of his professional life to the Northside Kitchenette & The Northside Social where he became known not only for his exceptional cooking skills but also for the warmth and joy he brought to the kitchen. His creativity and dedication to his craft left a lasting impression on both colleagues and patrons alike.

Beyond his career, Cesar was an adventurous spirit who enjoyed walking his two dogs Chloe and Diesel on nature trails. 

Cesar is survived by his loving husband, John Griner; his mother, Concepcion; his mother-in-law, Janice Griner; his father-in-law, Patrick Griner Sr.; his sisters, Matilda and Rosario; his brother-in-laws Julio Sr.,  Pablo, Paul and Patrick; his nephew Julio Jr.; and his best friend, Anel. Each of these individuals, along with many others who knew him, will carry his memory in their hearts.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Monica Catholic Church on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Visitation starts at 9:00 AM before mass.

The legacy of Cesar Porfirio Rivas Griner will live on through the love he shared and the impactful moments he created during his time with family and friends. He will be deeply missed, yet cherished in the minds and hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
