Charles Henry Eldridge, 89, of Plainfield, IN died August 10, 2014. He was born July 23, 1925, in Brookston, IN, to James and Phoebe Eldridge. He married Ruth Halsema on June 23, 1949; they were married 62 years before she preceded him in death. He is survived by daughter, Diana Marie Eldridge; and granddog, Lily.
During WWII, Charlie served as a Seabee (Construction Batillion) in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater. Later on the homefront, he worked at Ross Gears in LaFayette, several Standard Grocery locations, and retired from the Carpenter Steel Corporation Indianapolis as a warehouse foreman. He also worked at "Pit In" at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The American Legion, Traffic Club, Moose Club, and Elks Club were enjoyable social groups for Charlie and his family. They were very active members.
