Charles Robert Epstein,
80 of Indianapolis passed away July 31, 2013. He was born in Indianapolis to Morris and Zelda Epstein on September 23, 1932. Charles attended Butler and Indiana University. He was an actor and director in New York, Los Angeles, and Indianapolis. He played the part of the Rabbi in "Fiddler on the Roof" starring Robert Merril and again with Theodore Bikel, both at Starlight Musicals. Charles also starred in commercials for H.H. Gregg and the Hoosier Lottery.
Charles also wrote an opera, a musical titled "Haym Salomon", and a murder mystery farce titled "Victim's Choice". He was a movie and theater critic for the Indiana Jewish Post and his own blog.
Charles belonged to the Actors Equity and Alpha Epsilon Pi.
He is survived by his wife, Christine; sister, Josalie Leventhal; niece, Dori (Marc) Carlson; nephews, David Moskowitz and Evan Blattner; great niece, Zoe Carlson; several other nieces and nephews; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at the Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary, 11411 North Michigan Rd, on Sunday, August 4th at 2 PM. Burial will follow in Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation North Cemetery.
