Charlotte Harriet Goldstein

Charlotte Harriet Goldstein,
85, daughter of Anna and Ernest Schwartz, died on Monday, July 3rd. Charlotte was born in Indianapolis on January 31, 1932. Charlotte was a graduate of Shortridge High School and graduated Magma Cum Laude from the Jordan Conservatory of Music at Butler University. After graduation, she toured with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra as a featured piano soloist playing Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue".

Charlotte met her first husband, Sidney Fox of St. Louis on a blind date. After marrying and moving to St Louis, MO, Charlotte's only child, Elaine, was born. Sidney passed away suddenly two years later and Charlotte and Elaine moved to Indianapolis. She soon met her second husband, Sidney Z Goldstein, again on a blind date. They remained happily married until Sidney's death in 1986.

Charlotte was an active member of Matinee Musicale and taught piano to many of Indianapolis's children. Charlotte was a member of Congregation Beth-El Zedeck and its Sisterhood. She was also involved in the National Council of Jewish Women and the Children's Asthma Research Hospital of Denver.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Charlotte was also pre-deceased by her stepfather, Leonard Levy, Indianapolis; and step-sister, Marcia Einbund, Orange County, CA. Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Elaine Mordoh (Dr. Jason Weiner) of Chicago, IL; and grandson, Alan Mordoh (Ilycia Kahn Mordoh) of Indianapolis.

Graveside services will be held Friday, July 7th at 2 PM in the Ohev Zedeck section of Beth-el Zedeck Cemetery South. Donations may be made to The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra or The Little Red Door.
