Connie Moelk

February 16, 1942 — September 18, 2018

Mary Cornelia "Connie" Lynn Moelk

Connie passed away peacefully at home in Carmel, Indiana on September 18th. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on February 16, 1942, the first of four children of Cornelia Evans Lynn and Bruce Griener Lynn. She attended Upper Arlington grade schools and high school before earning her Bachelor's degree in Biology from Denison University in Granville, Ohio.

Connie married her husband of 54 years, Jake Moelk, at the First Community Church in Upper Arlington on September 12, 1964. They spent the next two years in Madison, Wisconsin and moved to the Chicago area - Roselle, Illinois - for two years where her son, Bruce, was born in 1967. She then moved to the St. Louis area - Kirkwood, Missouri - and lived there until 1991. Her daughter, Anne, was born in St. Louis in 1969. The past 27 years she has lived in Carmel, just north of Indianapolis.

Her in-laws owned a summer home in Boulder Lake outside of Boulder Junction, Wisconsin and she vacationed there most every summer. Her major claim to fame was the successful landing of a legal muskie on a single hook baited with a minnow while pan fishing. When Jake retired 10 years ago, they extended their "vacation" stays to 3 - 4 month summer residencies.

Besides caring for her family, Connie's greatest interest was doing needlework, especially needlepoint. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority at Denison and formed a lifelong association with their philanthropic gift store - Sign of the Arrow - in St. Louis, both as a volunteer and as contract stitcher under her business name - Turbo Stitch.

She is survived by her husband; two children; daughter-in-law, Nancy; grandchildren, Carter and Jake Moelk; sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Jeff Schofield; brother, Doug; as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. Besides her parents; she was preceded in death by her brother, BG Lynn.

Connie's remains, along with those of her five dogs, will be interred in Boulder Junction at a later date. Those wishing to commemorate her life could make a donation to the ASPCA at ASPCA.org or to a local dog shelter of their choosing in her name.
