Dan Strong

Dan Strong, Jr. was born on October 14, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana, and passed away March 17, 2015. Born to the late Dan and Dorothy (Baxter) Strong, Dan was a fun-loving, free-spirited and incredibly devoted family man. Not only a husband and father but also a loving brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend to many. In his earlier years, Dan attended Holy Angels School and church where he dedicated his life to Christ and later graduated high school from Crispus Attucks. Dan then enrolled into post-secondary educational institutions and proudly attended Ivy Tech and then IUPUI.

It was in his collegiate studies that Dan developed a love for all things computer science. Dan then took that gained technical education and his keen and natural sense of understanding technology and later became one of the best, self-taught builder of computer systems. Dan never purchased a pre-assembled computer system from a manufacturer. He always purchased parts and proudly built his own computer masterpieces. Dan was also well known for repairing computers for many friends and family members alike. Dan passed that amazing gift, skillset and talent on to his beloved son, Danny Strong, III who began building his own computers at a very young age. Professionally, Dan lived in St. Louis, Missouri and worked at McDonnell Douglass, Corp. for several years. Later he was loyally employed at Navistar, Inc. for 17 years.

Dan lived a blessed life and was surrounded by his family until the very end of his journey here on earth. He is survived by and will be immensely missed by his loving wife, Sherry Strong; daughters, Cherlynn Strong and Chevonne Strong-Miles (John); son, Dan Strong, III; sisters, Bennie Strong, Lynda Provitt, Valerie Strong and Tonya Mays; brothers, Cohen McNeill (Theresa), David Strong (Michelle), Michael Strong (Julie), Bruce Hillman (Sharon); six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. His dear brother, Lawrence Strong (Regina), preceded him in death.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Dan's life will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at Second Chance Restoration Temple, 2416 E. 55th Place, Indianapolis, IN 46220.

The family of Dan Strong, Jr. is grateful and appreciates your kindness, thoughtfulness, condolences, care and concern during this time. Please remember God's infallible word from John 14:1-4 "Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going". Dan Strong, Jr. is resting well and has taken his place with the Lord.
