Daniel Ray Hankins

July 6, 1958 — January 15, 2017

Daniel Ray Hankins, lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at age 58. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia to Daniel R. Hankins Sr. and Patricia (Scott) Hankins, but later moved to Lexington, Kentucky which is considered his hometown.

Dan proudly served his country in the Army after high school, traveling Europe and stationing in Germany and was honorably discharged. Dan graduated from the University of Kentucky and was a lifelong Wildcats enthusiast. Dan resided in Indianapolis, Indiana, and was an avid Colts fan. He spent his career in the automotive business as a highly respected trainer and marketing professional.

Dan was preceded in death by both of his parents and his twin sister, Eva Karen (Hankins) Leggett. Dan is survived by his sister, Kimberly Raye Hankins; brother, Scott Nixon Hankins; nephews, Shawn Leggett, Christopher Hankins and Andrew Hankins; and his loyal black lab, Ed.

Celebration of Life ceremonies will be held in both Indianapolis and Lexington. The Indianapolis Open House will be held on Saturday, January 21st from 4 -7 PM at Five Seasons, 1300 E. 96th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46240.

The Lexington Open House will be held at a date and location to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his honor to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
