David Allen Carpenter

David Allen Carpenter,

77, of Indianapolis, passed away May 7, 2021.  He was born in Rushville, Indiana to the late Donald E. and Marjorie Ann (Austin) Carpenter on September 17, 1943.  After graduating high school, Dave proudly served in the United States Navy.

He owned and operated Garfield Park Tavern for many years.  Dave liked to keep busy and up until the time of his passing was still working two part-time jobs.  He enjoyed reading, but was not the type to sit still for long.  So he could often be found going for walks.

Dave is survived by his four children, Nancy (Luis) Cepeda of Tuxedo, NY; Donald (Judith) Carpenter of Greenwood, IN; Carin Henderson of Indianapolis, IN; and Jason (Julie) Elsts of Savoy, IL; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jay (Pamela) Carpenter of Granger, IN and Darlene (Richard) Clifford of Bryan, TX.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
