David Lee Lutz,
74 of Fishers passed away peacefully September 17, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born in Bloomington, IL on September 19, 1939 to Jacob and Golde Lutz. David served in the United States Air Force. He began his career as a home builder before entering the automotive business. Later, David used his expertise as the owner and operator of Video Vault, which was one of the last privately owned video rental stores.
David was also a Volunteer Fire Fighter for Washington Township from 1963-1973, and taught First Aid to school bus drivers in that area. He chaired and established the American Cancer Society Apartment Division in Indianapolis and was active with the Democratic Party and Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation.
David is survived by his wife, Dee Lebowitz Lutz; sons, Garrett (Judy) Lutz of South Carolina, Michael (Stephanie) Lutz of Texas, and Matthew (Amy) Lutz of Westfield, IN; grandchildren, Andrew, Lauren, Jacob, Zachary, Jordan, Colby, Alexandra, Catelin, and Cassandra Lutz; and sisters, Betty Jo Lutz, Judy (Ted) Sosin, and Sandra Slavin. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Jacob & Golde Lutz; and brother, Robert Lutz.
Funeral services will be held at A.R.N. Funeral & Cremation Services, 11411 North Michigan Road, on Sunday, September 21st at 1 PM. Burial will follow in Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation North Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the charity founded in honor of and named for David's grandchildren, Colby & Cate's Charities, www.colbyandcate.org, or to the Hamilton County Humane Society.
The family will be sitting shiva at Matthew Lutz's residence, 14811 Warner Trail, Westfield, IN 46074 on Sunday following the services. The following days, they will sit at the Lutz home, 12189 Halite Lane, Fishers, IN 46038.
