David T. Massing 66, a beloved member of his family and community, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on March 30, 1958, in Greenville Pennsylvania and his journey through life was characterized by a deep commitment to his work and a strong bond with his loved ones. David grew up on the westside of Indianapolis and graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1977.
David dedicated many years to his career as an assistant manager at a local drug store and Goodwill Industries. His professionalism and unwavering work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike. He began laying the foundation for his career by earning an Associate's degree from ITT Technical Institute, which equipped him with the skills and knowledge necessary for his professional endeavors.
Family was paramount in David's life. He is survived by his sister, Kim (Dan) Stratton, and his nephew, Darren Stratton. He also shared a special relationship with his aunt, Carole McGrath. These connections brought joy and meaning to his life, and he cherished the moments spent with them.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Wells Massing and Barbara Ann McGrath Massing, who instilled in him the values of kindness and hard work. He was also preceded by his sister, Leigh Massing, whose memory continues to be held dear by the family.
David T. Massing will be remembered for his great sense of humor, sincerity, dedication, and the love he shared with those around him. He was an avid sports fan of the Colts, Cincinnati Reds and professional hockey. His legacy will live on through the memories he created and the impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him. He will be profoundly missed.
A Celebration of David's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday October 24, 2024 at Chapel Hill Methodist Church, 963 N. Girls School Road, Indianapolis Indiana 46214.
