David Elliot Regenstrief, born on 49th Street, passed away less than 10 miles from his boyhood home in the only city he ever lived, at the age of 81, on Saturday, June 3, 2023.

David wore many hats including serving as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army, President of Congregation Beth-El Zedeck and Jewish Children and Family Services of the Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis. He and his uncles owned and ran Regens Bakery on the southside. But most importantly he was known as a brother, husband, dad and Zayde.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Molly and Sigmund, and sister, Sandra. David is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pearl; sister, Marcia; three children -- Andrea (Alan), Leigh (Jeffrey), Matt, seven grandchildren, Shayna (Aaron), Julia (Brent), Rebecca, Jessica, Adam, Maddie, Alex and great grandson Joey as well as many nieces, nephews and countless other family and friends.
