David Andrew Reifeis,
59, of Indianapolis passed away March 5, 2019. He was born October 10, 1959 to Robert and Corinne Reifeis. David graduated from North Central High School in 1977 and then completed his bachelor's degree in Geography at Indiana University. David always enjoyed outdoor activities. He joined the Boy Scouts of America as a Cub Scout ultimately earned the ranking of Eagle Scout. He carried those lessons throughout his life.
David was a family man and will always be remembered for his dedication to his family. He is survived by his parents; Robert and Corinne; children, Megan, Sarah and Emily Reifeis; siblings, Ann (Herb) Yates, Rob (Nikki) Reifeis, Tom (Sandy) Reifeis; nieces, Rebecca (Kris) Gadshian, Kristen (Joshua) Fast, Cassie Reifeis, and Brynne Reifeis; nephews, Jeff Yates, Tyler Shafer, Taylor Shafer, Logan Reifeis and Carter Reifeis; and great-nieces, Ally Yates, Makenzie Gadshian, and Kairi Shafer; and great-nephew; Everton Shafer. He was preceded in death by his brother, Matthew Reifeis; and great-niece, Rhea Gadshian.
He lived in Indianapolis, Richmond, and Bath Maine. During his life he worked for Ben and Jerry's, Culligan and most recently at Amazon in Whitestown.
He loved spending his summer weekends and vacations at Lake Lavine where he and his siblings enjoyed swimming, water skiing and tubing on the lake. In later years, he loved watching his daughters create the same memories he cherished so much.
Dave will be remembered for his warm and inviting personality. He never met a stranger. He would be the first to extend his hand to a stranger and freely give of himself.
Dave loved a captive audience and would enjoy an enthusiastic discussion on most any topic.
He will be missed by all.
Services will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be made to Cope Environmental Center (Richmond, Indiana) or The American Cancer Society.
