Deborah Chernin Galvin, a passionate individual who touched the lives of many throughout her journey, passed away on January 10, 2025, at the age of 74. Born in Indianapolis on May 17, 1950, Deborah’s spirit was bright and tenacious.
At the core of her being, Deborah was a dancer. She found joy in expressing herself through movement, often inspiring those around her with her grace and passion. She was a talented professional dancer and founding member of Dance Kaleidoscope, an accomplished choreographer, and dance instructor at Butler's Jordan College of the Arts. Dance was her solace, a creative outlet that allowed her to connect with her emotions and share her unique perspective on life.
In addition to her artistic pursuits, Deborah also devoted her professional life as a physical therapist to helping others regain their strength and mobility, embodying the very essence of compassion and care. Her profound commitment to her patients not only supported their physical recovery but also uplifted their spirits, leaving an indelible mark on all those fortunate enough to be in her care. Deborah's dedication was further highlighted by her academic achievements, having earned a Master's degree which helped propel her career and solidify her expertise in the field.
Deborah is survived by her children, Joseph Galvin and Sarah Galvin; her brother, David Chernin; niece, Anna Conlon; granddaughter, Marella; extended family; and cherished friends.
Deborah was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Samuel and Ruth Chernin, whose love and guidance shaped the remarkable woman she grew to become. Their memory lives on in the hearts of those she cherished and who cherished her.
Services will be held at Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary, 11411 North Michigan Road, on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 11:00 am. Friends may visit with the family before services and following the funeral.
