Dee Brock passed away on November 5th, 2017, the day after her 68th birthday. She touched the lives of hundreds of family, friends, teachers, and students all over the Indianapolis area. When not teaching (Pike, Butler, Zionsville, etc.), you could find our Mom hard at work in the yard tending to her hosta and herb gardens, walking the dog, entertaining friends or cooking at home. She was always keeping busy.
On the rare occasion she was sitting she enjoyed reading, playing Scrabble, or watching any show with a British accent. Dee was always thinking of everyone but herself. Her unselfish nature and desire to help others built a beloved reputation for being trustworthy and dependable. If you needed *anything* - Dee was there to help. She gave countless rides to friends to and from the airport. She shoveled snow, mowed grass, cooked meals, ran errands for others, often without being asked.
Even in retirement, she went back to work as a substitute teacher, she brought the same enthusiasm and energy to educate and impress kindness in the children she taught. Dee had a heart of gold. Her exemplary etiquette became a moral compass for many who knew her and that legacy will not soon fade. She was loved by many, many people whose lives were made instrumentally better by those who were privileged to know her.
Dee is survived by her husband Walt, sons Ben and Andy, their wives, Nikki and Gretchen, and 6 grandchildren.
There will be a private ceremony for the family, but we invite her friends to celebrate her life at the College Park Club House at 9001 Fordham Street, Indianapolis, IN 46268 on Nov. 19th 2017 from 1PM - 3PM. She requested that men do not wear suits to the celebration. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to Random Acts of Flowers, 1057 E. 54th St. Suite F, Indianapolis, IN 46220, 317-282-0144
