OBITUARY OF DENISE RICE

Denise (Beriault) Rice, daughter of the late Arthur Leon and Julia Jean Beriault, was born January 26th, 1953 in Indianapolis. A consummate educator, Denise received her degree in early childhood education from IUPUI.

Throughout her 20-year career, she taught hundreds of children throughout Indianapolis Public Schools. She was particularly passionate about developing good readers. This passion led to the creation and implementation of a Reading Recovery program designed to help teachers help students become better readers.

In 1999, Denise was appointed an adjunct professor at Ball State University.

She loved music and singing and her precious kitties. But most of all, she loved Jesus Christ and her Catholic faith.

She is survived by her sisters, Roxanne Beriault, Toni Beriault, Patty Jent (Ron); brother, Greg Beriault (Ann); and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church on Thursday, September 27th at 10:00am followed by a holy mass to celebrate Denise's life at 11:00am.
