Dorothy M. Keller, 90, Brownsburg, formerly of Sun City Center, Florida, passed away Monday, April 2, 2012.
Dorothy was born August 4, 1921 in Boston, Massachusetts. She married William Barlow in 1945 who, sadly, passed away in 1948. After his death, she flew to Hawaii to stay with her sister where she met and then married Hugh Keller in 1950. They were married until Hugh's passing in 1986. Hugh was in the Coast Guard and FAA, so much of their life was spent moving around the country with their four children. They settled in Indianapolis until 1978, when they decided to plant their roots in Sun City Center to enjoy retirement. Dorothy moved back to Indianapolis in 2008.
While living in Florida, Dot was an avid swimmer, performing in a synchronized swimming group and she was most proud of swimming over 2500 miles in the community pool. She was an outstanding seamstress and excellent cook. She always kept a beautiful home and she never left the house without looking just perfect.
What most will say about her is that she never met a stranger. She always had a smile for and a conversation with anyone she met. Her greatest joys were her family and all the wonderful friends she met along the way. She was a dear friend to many and loved helping anyone who needed it.
Dorothy is survived by her children, William (Nancy) Keller, Douglas (Julie) Keller, Steven (Mary Jane) Keller, and Karen Nostrand, 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a stepson, Robert (Sandy) Keller and their 4 children. Also mourning her loss are her sisters, Marion Harrower and Florence Hardy.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, April 10th at ARN Cremation Services, 11411 N. Michigan Road, from 4:30 6:30 p.m., with a short memorial service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
