Dorothy Ann (Klasing) Ristow died early October 29, 2013 in Spencer, Indiana at the Owen Valley Health Complex. She was born on February 13, 1922 to Charles and Anna ( Herschel) Klasing in Indianapolis, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer, in May of 2010, parents, brothers, Arthur and Herman, and sister, Helen. She grew up on Churchman Avenue, was baptized and confirmed at Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ, and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School.
She married Homer John Ristow, a vegetable farmer, from the west side of Indianapolis August 15, 1942. They farmed in eastern Clinton County for many years. Dorothy was a housewife who loved to cook and entertain, and she was an accomplished painter, decorator, and seamstress. After farm life, they moved to North Harbour of Noblesville and enjoyed many years of lake living. Dorothy and Homer spent many of their winter months in Sanibel, Florida with dear friends. Together Dorothy and Homer had two children, Kathleen (Steve) Harriman of Spencer and Kurt (Lisa) Ristow of Frankfort. She had two grandchildren, William (Beth) Harriman and Shelley (Evan) McKalip all of Spencer.
She was actively involved with her children's and grandchildren's lives, Scircleville United Methodist Church, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Frankfort hospital and at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association and Zion Evangelical United Church are welcome.
