Douglas Andrew Adamson of Noblesville, IN passed away on September 14, 2021 at 3 am. He was 93 years old. Douglas was born June 5, 1928, in Brownsville, Pennsylvania to William and Lydia Adamson.
He came from humble beginnings in a family of 14 children. All his siblings are now deceased except the youngest, Stella Adams. The entire family was raised in Brownsville. He served at a young age in the U.S. Navy and on return home married Theresa Descenzo. The couple moved to Indianapolis where Douglas worked at Western Electric until he retired 35 years later.
During his working years, he also spent ten years attending night school to earn a degree in Theology. Douglas then began preaching and planting churches on weekends. He did all this while helping Theresa raise their three children in a strong Christian faith.
Sadly, Theresa went to be with the Lord when she was only 53 years old. She was a cherished wife and mother.
Douglas was a quiet man who devoted his life to the in-depth study of the Bible every day of his life. He was so knowledgeable, he could name book, chapter and verse of any verse you mentioned without looking it up. Douglas taught a Bible Study for 10 years in his later life and also published books paraphrasing some of the Bible. His footnotes were unparalleled from his years and years of study.
In addition, Douglas was blessed with one of the most beautiful voices. His singing easily moved people to tears and was an amazing gift. He chose to use this gift by blessing God’s people as a choir master for years.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Beverly, whom he was forever grateful to for her love and care during his declining years. Douglas is also survived by his loving children , Douglas (Janice) Adamson , Jr. and Diane (Michael) Fisher; and leaves many grandchildren who mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and the mother of his children, Theresa Adamson; and his beloved son, David Adamson.
He is now with the Lord, waiting for all of us that believe Jesus Christ is the resurrected Son of God, to join him. Thank God Jesus came and gave his life to pay for our sins so that we might enter eternity also.
