Earl Paul Thompson, 90, of Kirklin, IN passed away at his home, Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012.
He was born in Manitowoc, WI on July 2, 1922 to Norman and Helen Flentje Thompson. He was married to the late Delores Babich Carlson of Two Rivers, WI and later to his recently-deceased wife of 61 years, Shirley Belle Petersen Thompson, whom he married on July 2, 1951 in Las Vegas, NV.
An employee of the Indiana Gas Co., he retired in 1985 and spent much of his time traveling, debating with his kids, solving crossword puzzles, and playing cards. An avid remodeler, he bought and rebuilt numerous homes throughout his life. He was a member of the Frankfort Elks Lodge for over fifty years, and was a past exalted ruler. He also served as a Frankfort city councilman. A veteran of the Army Air Corps, he served at Myrtle Beach during WWII.
Earl is survived by 4 sons: Lee (Kazuko) of Denver, Tom (Pinky) of Goodyear, AZ, Jerry of Chicago, and Pete (Mala) of Madison, AL; 5 daughters: Cathy (Ivan) Stegemann of Las Cruces, NM, Connie Jo of Milwaukee, WI, Sandee (Coleman) Pickard of Frankfort, Becky Lemen of Arnold, MO, and Dawn (Ron) Wilson of Kirklin, with whom he lived; 33 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Grace Babich of New Braunfels, TX, and Allene Yule of Roswell, NM; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Helen Jacobs and Marion Landon, and 2 brothers, Clarence and George.
Interment in a military cemetery will occur at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to A.R.N. Cremation Service, Zionsville. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
