Edith Hood,
81, died in Indianapolis on Monday, February 11, 2015. Born Edith May Yeager, she graduated from Muncie's Burris High School and married James A. Hood. They lived in Yorktown where they reared their family. Edith is retired from the Yorktown offices of Marsh Supermarket. She is remembered for her deep appreciation of art and music, and her puckish humor. She kept talking birds and spoiled dogs. She could sew a perfect bound buttonhole, and knit with elegance. She painted and loved the sleek lines of modern architecture and furnishings. Edith was an avid reader and observer---of wildlife (birds mostly) and people.
After retirement Edith traveled through Europe; the couple moved to Indianapolis but lived much of the year aboard a 50-foot boat based on Kentucky Lake. Edith loved her family and cherished her friends.
She is survived by her children, James Michael Hood, wife, Vicki Lee Hood and Kimberly Hood Jacobs, husband, late Hon. Andrew Jacobs Jr.; grandchildren, Andrew James Jacobs, Steven Michael Jacobs and Abigail May Hood. She held dear several nieces and nephews; Marsha Miller, Larry Yeager, wife Cele Yeager, Troy Michigan, Greg Hood, wife Chris Hood, Clearwater, FL. Edith was predeceased by her husband, Jim; and son, Steven Arthur Hood.
Calling is Monday at Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary in Zionsville from 5-8pm, service at 7:30pm. Burial at Elm Ridge Cemetery Tuesday, Feb. 16 with brief remarks at noon in the north mausoleum chapel.
