Edna Mae Copenhaver

April 2, 1937 — June 12, 2019

Edna Mae Copenhaver, age 82, passed away peacefully in her home in Indianapolis, on June 12, 2019 following a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Lebanon, Indiana, on April 2, 1937 to the late Alfred C. and Ruth (Ward) Wethington. She was a 1955 graduate of Pinnell High School. On January 23, 1960, she was married to Wilmer Leo Copenhaver, until he preceded her in death in 1982. Prior to her retirement in 2005, she worked for Chicago Title Insurance, in Indianapolis.

In addition to her love for books and being an avid reader, she enjoyed gardening, and loved going to auctions. She had a special talent for refurbishing and transforming treasures of all kinds into beautiful additions to her home. Her love for cats led to her opening her home to wandering strays that found their way to her doorstep, including her beloved Miss Boots.

Those surviving to cherish her memory include her sons, Earle and Kevin Copenhaver, both of Fishers; daughters, Sheryl (Steve) Hungate, of Tamarac, Florida, Leeann Barnes and Suzann (Rodney) Pratt, of Lebanon, and Dawn (John) Frye, of Waynetown; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, George and Robert Wethington, of Indianapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Evelyn Nicley, Margaret True, Rita Thompson and Jeanette Wethington.

The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers from Guardian Angel Hospice for all the wonderful help and support they provided.

In keeping with her wishes, no funeral service is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
