Edward Eli Mitchell,
84 of Indianapolis passed away Wednesday, August 13th. He was born on September 24, 1929 to Joseph and Ida Mitchell. Edward attended Indiana University and was the governor of Elliot Quad, member of the Board of Governors. Edward was one of the organizing founders of the Little 500 at Indiana University. He proudly served in the United States Army with a top secret clearance during the Korean War. Edward was a successful businessman, owning liquor stores in Indianapolis. He also owned and operated a collection agency until his retirement in 2004.

He was an avid bowler, bowling in seven different leagues each week and was the winner of the Indianapolis Match Game Championship in 1958.

Edward was a lifetime member of Sertoma, The Service Club of Indiana, B'nai B'rith, and was a former member of Congregation Beth-El Zedeck and B'nai Torah Congregation.

He is survived by his wife, Anita C. Mitchell; children, Greg (Marla) Mitchell and Julie (David) Nelson; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM on August 24, 2014 at Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary, 11411 North Michigan Rd, with visitation from 1 PM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
