Indianapolis - Waldorf, Ellie (Eleanor Bauman), a 54 year resident of Indianapolis, passed peacefully in her home on December 22, 2016, at the age of 80. Born and married in New York, NY, to Jack Waldorf on July 4, 1957, she and Jack had their first child in Harvey, Illinois (Andrea,1962) and soon after their second child, upon arrival in Indianapolis, (Mark, 1963).
Ellie graduated from what is now SUNY at Cortland Teacher's College and became a respected teacher. In the 70's and 80's she was a successful businesswoman, having owned an employment agency and specialty advertising company. Ellie was an avid fan of collegiate basketball, particularly IU and Butler. In retirement, Ellie kept her extraordinary mind sharp as she cherished competition with her friends in several bridge groups, enjoyed a variety of world travels, and maintained a keen understanding and interest in politics.
Those closest to her acknowledge that Ellie lived every bit of her life on her own terms, in a loving, charitable manner. Ellie was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ruth Bauman; and her husband, Jack.
She is survived by her children, Andrea (Waldorf) Brokamp of Cincinnati and Mark Waldorf of Dallas; five grandchildren, Christopher, Jason, Collin, Megan, and Jacquelyn; beloved friend, Richard "Dick" Meidell; and brother, Larry Bauman.
Donations can be made made in the memory of Eleanor (Ellie) Waldorf to the Make a Wish Foundation at www.oki.wish.org.
