Elizabeth Watson Crozier
died on February 23, 2018. Beth was born in Clifton Springs, New York, the daughter of the Reverend and Mrs. Walter Vail Watson. She grew up in Geneva, New York and Syracuse, New York where her father had Presbyterian pastorates. She graduated from Wheaton College (IL) where she met and married R. Byron Crozier. Along with her husband, a Presbyterian clergyman, she lived in West Allis, Wisconsin; Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Indianapolis, Indiana. Beth and Byron travelled in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and spent 3 months in Japan with an interdenominational mission project. She also went to USSR in 1988 under the aegis of the Chautauqua Institution in New York.
Beth attended various graduate schools: Marquette University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania (MA) and the University of Pittsburgh (PhD Student). She belonged to the following academic honorary societies: Pi Gamma Mu (Social Science), Phi Alpha Theta (History), Phi Delta Kappa (Education) and was the recipient of a Mid-Career grant at the University of Pittsburgh. She was assistant professor of Political Science at Indiana University of Pennsylvania from 1970-1975, and an associate faculty member in Political Science at Indiana University Purdue University in Indianapolis from 1976-2004. Beth believed she was very fortunate to get paid for what she loved to do...teach!!
She is survived by her sons, John (Barbara) Crozier and Byron (Gretchen) Crozier, Jr.; four grandchildren, Nathan, Jonathan, Kieran and Elsa; sisters, Anne (Wallace) Downs and Vail (William) Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, R. Byron Crozier, preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, 418 East 34th Street, Indianapolis on Friday, March 2nd at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Beth will be inurned with Byron at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Tabernacle Presbyterian Church.
