Elner C. Strand,
86 years of age, passed away on December 13, 2015. He was born on December 11, 1929 to Elner J. and Esther J. (Hyde) Strand of Chesterton, IN. He is outlived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sally; their children, Allan, Randall, Annette Delaney (Robert), and Amy Hendricks (Steve); ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother, William. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ann J. Nelson of Chesterton, IN; brother, John of Pensacola, FL; and granddaughter, Jessica Hendricks.
He spent his working career in the retail and wholesale meat business, beginning in his early teens and retiring after thirty-two years with Hormel Foods.
He proudly served as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 28th from 5 - 8 PM at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 2201 E. 106th St., Carmel, IN. A Memorial Service will be held at the same location on the following day, December 29th, at 11 AM, followed by visitation and a fellowship meal.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Child and Family Services or the American Heart Association.
