Elvis Alexander Montgomery

Elvis “Monty” Alexander Montgomery Sr, passed away on February 15, 2022, with his family by his side.  A devoted husband, father, grandfather and community volunteer, Monty leaves behind a legacy of good deeds and dedicated service.  He worked for the United States Postal Service for 39 years, retiring in 1997.  He was a Mason, a member of the Eastern Star and of West Newton United Methodist Church and active in Scouting.

Monty is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Saundra Bennett Montgomery; children, Elvis Alexander (Susan) Montgomery Jr, Michael Lee (Roxanne) Montgomery, Kathleen Marie Underwood, Kimberley Anne (Eric) Neal and Wade Samuel Montgomery; 4 grandchildren, Margo, Cassie, Austin and Aley (Chris); sister, Ruby Safewright; and his devoted pet, Levi

A celebration of his life will be held at West Newton United Methodist Church on March 19, 2022, beginning with visitation from 2-4 pm followed by an Eastern Star service at 4, Masonic service at 4:15 and the religious service afterwards.

He will be deeply missed, and his memory will live on in all who cherished him.
